Klaas Financial Summer Internship Program (KSIP) (This program has been suspended for Summer 2020 at both locations)

Please consider applying for this internship opportunity in Summer 2021.

Exposing eager minds to the exciting world of retirement and financial planning!

Here at Klaas, we believe that educating our clients is the first step in helping them understand their unique financial journey, and we embrace that same responsibility when it comes to college students and career-driven individuals, providing unique pathways and opportunities for young professionals to step into and learn about the financial services industry.

A recent Summer Intern here at Klaas discussed their experience:

Working alongside such a great group of “retirement professionals” provided me with an environment to learn so much more about retirement planning and running a company than I could have ever anticipated. But while the training, the teaching, and the opportunities provided were incredible, it was the tightly-knit group of genuinely nice and caring people that I am most thankful for and will come to miss the most.”

SUMMER INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES for our Klaas Summer Intern Program (KSIP) are offered at our Loves Park, IL and Madison, WI offices each year.

Our KSIP PROGRAM has been suspended for Summer 2020 at both of our office locations. For consideration for our Summer Internship program running from June 1 – August 15, 2021, applicants should email the following items to info@klaasfinancial.com:

  1. Letter of interest in the Klaas Summer Intern Program and the office location they prefer
  2. Current resume
  3. Letter of recommendation from a teacher or employer.

The Klaas Summer Internship Program (20-35 hours per week) offers an excellent overview of the financial planning industry – allowing students the opportunity to engage in many levels of the organization. The ideal intern ultimately has interest in the financial planning industry, and will likely have a business, accounting, economics or finance background.

What to expect – the day-to-day!

Throughout the KSIP program, the intern will be exposed to everything at the forefront and behind-the-scenes of the retirement planning business. They will be introduced to a variety of standard business operation procedures, including but not limited to front office reception processes, coordinating client review meetings; processing new business applications; and assisting with client review prep and follow-up processes. Interns will also be given the opportunity to sit in on appointments with our financial advisors and clients to understand more about the financial planning process and industry. In addition, interns will be welcomed into all-team meetings and provided opportunities to see cross-departmental initiatives at work by way of our various committee groups (i.e. marketing committee, investment policy committee, etc.). Finally, the intern will be assigned special projects to complete during their program, designed to grow their professional portfolio while equipping them with real-world industry experience.

Each year, we look forward to providing young professionals with a challenging and holistic internship experience that benefits them, while allowing them the opportunity to contribute their unique skills to our organization. Furthermore, it’s our hope that interns feel a part of our team from day one of their internship and eventually look toward our company as a prospective employer upon their graduation.
