• The S&P 500 closed the week up 2.72%. The markets bounced back despite the troubles in Ukraine and the economic doubt in China.

• Retail sales were above the projections, rising 1.1%, bringing further evidence that the slowdown in recent months was weather related.

• Industrial production had stronger reports than expected. Manufacturing output rose 0.7%, returning to prewinter levels.

• Large-cap stocks outperformed small-cap stocks, while large-cap growth stocks performed in line with largecap value stocks.

• All sectors were up for the week. Energy and industrials were the best performing sectors, while utilities and telecom were the lowest performing sectors
